Imagine walking into the office ready for a day’s work, when suddenly, the network crashes, your system is offline, and the employees are frustratedly waiting for something to happen.
You call your IT provider, only to find out he is busy with other clients and won’t be able to assist you until tomorrow, or even worse, they don’t pick up at all!
Panic sets in – productivity is halted, customers cannot access your website, and sales are lost every minute that passes.
This is every business owner’s worst nightmare.
Unfortunately, there are so-called IT experts who offer support at bargain prices but fail to show up when it truly matters. They often spend more time twiddling their thumbs than proactively managing your tech.
It is time to demand better.
Do not settle for mediocre IT support, and eliminate tech problems before they even become one.
To help you choose the right IT support or assess the services offered by your current provider, we’ve created a checklist of questions:
- Do they provide prompt, live support, and respond to issues within 1 hour? When a crisis hits, you should not be kept in limbo.
- Do they monitor your network continuously to maintain critical security updates? If you are not sure when or if they do this, that’s a red flag.
- Do they insist on having an off-site as well as an on-site backup? Cloud backup is not enough. Follow the 3-2-1 rule.
- Do they offer regular test data backup restores to ensure recoverability in an emergency? You should be able to retrieve your data easily with no delay.
- If asked, would they provide you with documented software licenses, passwords, and hardware details? Your IT provider needs to be transparent.
- Do they communicate technical information in easy-to-understand terms? No mumbo-jumbo words, straight to the point.
- Do they provide detailed invoices for services rendered to explain what you are paying for? No one likes surprises, especially when it comes to billing.
- Are their technicians certified or continuously trained by vendors? Education is crucial for the efficiency, protection, and growth of your business.
- Do they proactively suggest ways to optimize your network’s performance? Cyber threats are constantly evolving, and your security should be too.
- Do they complete projects on time? You should not have to chase your IT provider.
- Do they offer any guarantees on their services? It is a promise of high-quality support.
- Do they meet with you for high-level strategic planning around technology? Great IT support doesn’t just fix problems, it future-proofs your business.
